DSEBECS invention gets off to anything but a wobbly start in Cape Town.

Pilates Professionals that clearly hold continuous education in high regard were the first to be introduced to the inovative fitness equipment called DSEBECS. Current concepts in stability training were reviewed and applied in this workshop presented by JR&A, in association with DSEBECS (see our Affiiates page). The mind-body studio at Virgin Active's flagship Wembley Club in Gardens, Cape Town (www.virginactive.co.za) (www.wembleysquare.co.za), was chosen as the venue.  It is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views from the eastern precinct accross the city bowl to Lions Head and signal Hill. Thank you Mr. Branson and the local Virgin team!

DSEBECS proved to be a wonderfully versatile apparatus, capable of creating the subtlest stability diagnostics as well as the most challenging group workout exercises. In the picture (right), Anita tests her own Oblique balance.

The participants "workshopped" the application of good theory and soon warmed-up or perhaps heated-up more accurately describes the flushed faces and shaking limbs! This benign looking gadget can humble pretty skilful movers...

What excited me was the creativity that it brings out and by the final whistle of the Super 14 final, which was played while we worked, we saw some brilliant new applications. Come Monday, I spared a thought for the clients of these inspired instructors - I'm sure they were subjected to the new techniques learned on the DSEBECS; I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.

Left: Russel and Charmaine discuss which stability system they are conditioning using the technique they just created. Both have backgrounds in dance and now teach Pilates. Fitness, Pilates and health professionals in the Gauteng area can register for this workshop, which will be presented on 27 June. Thank you for your support to everyone that attended.
